The Old Log Church in Schellsburg, the oldest existing religious structure in Bedford County and the first Protestant church west of the Susquehanna River, will hold its Bicentennial Celebration on Saturday, June 24, and Sunday, June 25, 2006. Working under the auspices of the owners and administrators, the Chestnut Ridge and Schellsburg Union Cemetery Association, the Old Log Church and Cemetery Preservation Society, a group that has spearheaded the nomination and acceptance of the Church and Cemetery on the National Register of Historic Places, has announced the tentative schedule of the two-day celebration. Saturday, June 24: 10:00 a.m. March to flagpole: Berlin Drum and Bugle Corps 10:15 a.m. Flag Raising Ceremony "National Anthem": Fishertown Band 10:20 a.m. Welcome – Recognition of Founding Fathers 10:30 a.m. Musical Selection by Berlin Drum and Bugle Corps 10:40 a.m. Community Tribute to Early Settlers: Laying of Flowers on Gravesites 11:00 a.m. Patriotic Selection by Fishertown Band 11:10 a.m. Benediction 11:15 a.m. Recessional March: Berlin Drum and Bugle Corps 11:30 a.m-530 Entertainment Under the Tent: Local vocalists, groups, etc. 11:00 a.m-5:00 p.m Harp Music and Tours at Old Log Church Sunday, June 25: 11:00 a.m. Rededication of the Old Log Church 1:00 p.m. Dedication and Unveiling of John Schell Stone 1:30 p.m -4:30 p.m..
